Team leader basic course English with e-learning

At BHV.NL you can also follow In-House Emergency Team Leader course in English. Does your company employ multiple in-house emergency response officers? Then it’s advisable to appoint in-house emergency team leaders. They are trained among others to manage a group of in-house emergency response officers. BHV.NL also offers the In-House Emergency English course as a group training with e-learning.
 
Course participants go through the theory in their own time and at their own pace and subsequently follow a practical day at your organization or at a location arranged by BHV.NL.

E-learning and theory exam

Course participants learn the theory through our dynamic learning environment with varied learning modules. The learning material consists of explanations and examples in both text and images. They also practice with the offered theory in various engaging ways.

BHV.NL's English e-learning consists of 4 training modules and a case study. Each chapter concludes with a practice test in preparation for the theory exam. It’s important that the e-learning is successfully completed three working days before the start of the practical day. This means that 70% of the answers of the theory exam must be correct and all modules of the e-learning should be completed.

The e-learning is finished with a Team Leader exam that consists of multiple-choice questions.

Being able to selectively deal with the material in the course ensures that course participants have control over the time required for each section. Theory that is familiar can perhaps be gone through more quickly, requiring less time than the stated time investment of four hours. This depends on experience and knowledge.

Practical day

If course participants have passed their theory at least three days before the start of the practical day, they may participate in the practical day.

​The theme of the practical day is practical action. The main goal of a team leader is to lead a team of in-house emergency response officers and to maintain an overview of a situation in which you must act. Therefore, we focus on leadership skills, practicing through a Table-Top exercise and through various exercise scenarios.

After the Basic Team Leader course with e-learning:

  • The employee has shown that they are able to communicate clear and straightforward
  • The employee has knowledge about the context within which a team leader acts

Is this course suitable for our organisation?

Are there more than one in-house emergency response officers active within your organisation, does your organisation have more than one location and does not everyone speak Dutch? Then it’s useful to appoint multiple English-speaking team leaders. A team leader leads an in-house emergency response team and offers operational leadership. In case of a calamity, a team leader ensures a well-structured communication and execution of the protocols as determined in the company emergency plan.

During this in-company training you will follow the theory in English online, followed by a practical day, also in English. The employees already have a valid in-house emergency certificate.

The training course Team Leader In-House Emergency English is suitable for employees in a company where not all employees speak Dutch. If everyone does speak Dutch, you can also follow our Team Leader In-House Emergency Basic Course Dutch.

The in-company training course Team Leader In-House Emergency is especially suitable for companies with employees of multiple nationalities whereby not everyone speaks Dutch. It is convenient to also have English speaking employees during an emergency situation who have been trained into Team Leader In-House Emergency so they can lead and coordinate the in-house emergency aid in English.
This in-house emergency response course in English is meant for companies in the Netherlands with multilingual employees.

No, a team leader is not mandatory. When you have many In-House Emergency Response Officers in your organization it is useful to appoint team leaders who can take the lead during a calamity.

Can I follow the In-House Emergency Team Leader Basic Course without prior training?
No, to follow this course you must be in the possession of a valid In-House Emergency Basic certificate.

How long is my team leader certificate valid?

The certificate is valid for 1 year. You can extend the certificate by taking the in-house emergency team leader refresher course. We recommend repeating this course every year.

Which other roles are there within the In-House Emergency Response team?
In addition to regular In-House Emergency Response Officers and the team leaders, every In-House Emergency Response team also has a Head of In-House Emergency Response.
