The training programme
Preparation: e-learning through online learning platform
14 days before the training day, employees receive an invitation for our online learning platform Veiligheidsimpuls. Here, prior to the training day they complete four short modules (learning bites): ‘Your learning journey’, ‘Your role as an emergency response officer’. ‘Fire, evacuation and the risk of smoke’, and ‘Emergency and non-emergency first aid’.
Training day at your own location
During the training day we focus on gaining basic skills and learning how to act practically. We use various learning methods and what we mostly do is practice. A proper preparation of employees through our online learning platform Veiligheidsimpuls (the e-learning) ensures that we can effectively setup the training day. Our experienced trainer will address the following themes:
- Safely entering a space and extinguishing an incipient fire.
- Supervising an evacuation with suitable communication and means.
- Providing emergency first aid.
- Providing non-emergency first aid.
Modules after the training day
Employees continue their learning journey online in the online environment. We regularly offer them new modules. Have employees completed the module with theory? Then the accompanying scenario becomes available. With these scenarios we practice emergency situations, provide insight and enable employees to put the learned skills into practice. Employees will work on the following themes:
- Fire
- The basics of evacuation
- Emergency first aid
- Providing non-emergency first aid
What does this course give you?
- Put out an incipient fire
- Evacuate effectively
- Provide CPR to a victim (with and without using an AED)
- Act in the event of a life-threatening situation
- Provide non-emergency first aid
The ERO diploma is valid for one year. After this year, employees need to prolong their diploma by taking the ERO refresher training.

Who is this training course suitable for?
Everyone who is physically and mentally capable of providing aid can become an ERO. There is no prior-training required.
