The training programme

First your employees are taught the basic knowledge and actions (from the legislation) and then they continue online with deepening and broadening their knowledge.

Preparation: e-learning through online learning platform
14 days before the training day, employees receive an invitation for our online learning platform Veiligheidsimpuls. Here, prior to the training day they complete four short modules (learning bites): ‘Your learning journey’, ‘Your role as an emergency response officer’. ‘Fire, evacuation and the risk of smoke’, and ‘Emergency and non-emergency first aid’.

Training day at your own location
During the training day we focus on gaining basic skills and learning how to act practically. We use various learning methods and what we mostly do is practice. A proper preparation of employees through our online learning platform Veiligheidsimpuls (the e-learning) ensures that we can effectively setup the training day. Our experienced trainer will address the following themes:
  • Safely entering a space and extinguishing an incipient fire.
  • Supervising an evacuation with suitable communication and means.
  • Providing emergency first aid.
  • Providing non-emergency first aid.
During the entire day the instructor will assess your employees on knowledge and correctly executing the actions. During the training day we focus on acting confidently, that way as an organisation you will be sure that you can rely on your EROs.

Modules after the training day
Employees continue their learning journey online in the online environment. We regularly offer them new modules. Have employees completed the module with theory? Then the accompanying scenario becomes available. With these scenarios we practice emergency situations, provide insight and enable employees to put the learned skills into practice. Employees will work on the following themes:
  • Fire
  • The basics of evacuation
  • Emergency first aid
  • Providing non-emergency first aid

What does this course give you?

About Emergency Response Officers

In the Netherlands, in accordance with the Working Conditions Act employers are obliged to organise Emergency Response, and to have one or more Emergency Response Officers (EROs). EROs are employees that bring colleagues and visitors to safety or provide aid in the event of a calamity. They are responsible for: providing first aid, limiting or combatting an incipient fire and evacuating colleagues and visitors from the premises. How many EROs an organisation needs depends on the risks and size of the organisation.

With this ERO group training you can train employees in your organisation to become EROs. They learn all the necessary skills to perform the abovementioned tasks in emergency situations.
